The elaboration of an inventory of the constructions that corresponded to popular architecture in these four areas

44

The first phase was the elaboration of an inventory of the constructions that corresponded to popular architecture in these four areas in order to know the exact number and state through the identification and recording in the register of these buildings. At the start, a common plan of action was determined; a technical index was designed where all the information on the buildings that had to be included on record was established.

The aim of the fieldwork is to gather as much information as possible regarding the physical (architectural) characteristics of the building, to establish any singular criteria regarding the reality of the construction and, finally, elaborate the chronological sequence of the structure of the building bearing in mind the characteristics of the materials and the project. In other words, create a description of how the building is today and how, in time it has come to have the aspect that it does today. Which building materials and architectural elements characterise and define the building during the different historical moments. This on-site research means that relative chronologies can be made and later contrasted with the data collected from archives and the historical evolution of a building can be place in order.
